The Student Guidance and Support Service offers all University of Deusto students psychological counselling and advice. The psychological service opened in 1995-96 and is available at the Bilbao campus.
Purpose and scope of the service
Advise students on personal and academic problems. These include academic performance, personal, social and family adaptation. In addition, students are eligible to seek advice and guidance for any type of problem (anxiety, mood disorders, etc.), social, emotional or academic issues. In this sense, “problem” should not carry a negative meaning as it may include a desire for self-improvement, personal development or simply a need to talk about a personal situation with a psychologist.In cases with specific problems or those that require longer therapy, the staff will inform students about the proper specialist or centre.
Professional assistance: Students are attended by a PhD in Psychology.
Free of charge: All assistance is free of charge.
Confidentiality:Total confidentiality and professional secrecy are guaranteed. Students’ families, tutors, lecturers or other persons are not notified or informed of their visit to the service. The content of the interviews is totally confidential. Although the service is offered by the University of Deusto, no information about students seeking consultation is provided to the management, faculty or tutors. Students are not required to provide personal identification such as surname, year of study, home address, etc. No records of the interviews are kept.
How to set up an interviewAn appointment is required to set up an interview with a professional from the service. The appointment must be made exclusively by the student concerned, who should contact the psychologist directly at the following address: firstname.lastname@example.org
